As architects, it's easy to focus on drawings, materials, planning approvals and construction details. But ultimately, the spaces we create are about the people who use them every day.

This month's London Festival of Architecture is focused around the theme of "Belonging", a simple idea, but an important one.

Whether it's a family home, a workplace or a community building, successful design is about more than aesthetics. It's about creating places where people feel comfortable, connected and proud to spend their time. The best projects often aren't the most complex or ambitious. They're the ones that respond thoughtfully to how people live, work and interact with the spaces around them.

How a building looks is important but how it makes people feel is what lasts.
