Listed farmhouse restoration

11 February 2026

Conversion of a redundant, listed farmhouse in Warwickshire that we sensitively restored and extended to form a family home.

This project required a careful balance between restoration, adaptation and extension, with a strong emphasis on respecting the building’s historic fabric while making it suitable for modern family life. We worked closely with the Conservation Officer throughout the planning process and continued that collaboration on site to ensure a sensitive and well-considered outcome.

Internally, the existing timber structure was restored and expressed, allowing the original character of the building to remain a defining feature of the space. To support the roof and accommodate the new layout while retaining these historic timbers, a flitch plated truss was introduced — a contemporary structural solution working quietly alongside traditional construction.

Projects like this show how thoughtful design, technical care and collaboration can give listed buildings a renewed purpose, allowing them to evolve while preserving what makes them special.
